The best therapy for anxiety!

I wish I would have seen a therapist when I was younger. I used to feel so anxious when  speaking in front of large groups of people, especially when holding presentations at school. But I lived in denial, and just brushed off any uncomfortable event as a one-off that would probably never happen again. I would say to myself, “Next time I won’t be nervous”.

Time passed by, and I moved around the world many times, but wherever I went, my old friend, anxiety, came with me.

It wasn’t until I dedicated my life to spiritual growth, that it finally dawned on me that there was a reason for the nervousness that I’ve been experiencing all these years. We don’t just feel anxious without a reason. Anxiety is a representation of something else that is going on within us – and that is fear.

It was through extensive dream work, inner reflection, and meditation that I was able to better see what was really going on. It became more and more clear how I had a poor sense of home inside my heart, and an inner fear of being rejected. Furthermore I kept giving up my own power to people around me in a desperate attempt to belong, which resulted in me giving control to my outer world, which in turn made me feel like I’ve lost my freedom, and that is why I kept looking for more and more freedom wherever I went, and felt overpowered by people around me – especially when put in situations where I felt judged, and where there was a chance I may not be accepted.

If I would have had the chance to talk about my fears when I was younger with a trained therapist, I would have saved years of suffering before holding presentations!

If you are suffering from anxiety, and are wondering how to find a good therapist, I would suggest the following search criteria:

Look for a therapist who specializes in dream analysis, meditation and mindfulness.

Dream work allows us to better understand ourselves, which opens up room for compassion, love and kindness. This is the first step on the journey of soul healing. Meditation allows us to observe what is going on, and helps us see we don’t necessarily need to engage in our thoughts, just because they are there. Meditation also helps us reach a very serene and peaceful state, where we can connect with our higher selves. Likewise, mindfulness is very helpful in terms of becoming aware of thoughts and feelings that arise. Awareness is the key to soul growth and emotional healing!

Once we know what is going on, we can learn to nourish thoughts that best serve us, and achieve a peaceful state of mind, expressing ourselves with joy (without feeling nervous!), speaking our truth, living in love, and blossoming into our full soul potential, with our heart and soul beautifully connected.
