Sleep rejuvenates us, and makes everything feel so much better. Best of all, we receive beautiful guidance throughout the night. Have you ever gone to bed feeling overwhelmed over something only to wake up knowing all is good?
No matter how much we have to do, I cannot think of many good excuses for staying up all night. Yes, if your child is sick, you may need to sacrifice your sleep for a bit. But unless absolutely necessary – I’m not an advocate for anyone loosing sleep.
For our emotional well-being to be in balance, for our brains to function well, and for us to have a strong immune system, most of us need between 7 to 9 hours a night. I feel absolutely wonderful when I sleep 8 hours. I feel happy, my mind works fast, I’m alert and miraculously – I have so much energy that I can truly be there for others – which in turn makes me feel very connected.
Tonight is going to be an early evening for me. I had planned to stay up for a few more hours, studying the Yoga Sutras, and reading a wonderful book called The Book of Joy, with the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. But I’m tired, so I am going to sleep early!
I honor my sleep, and my dreams, and I love waking up feeling rested, guided, and ready to be of service.
