Most of the time when I talk about dreams, it’s all hope and glory, because luckily most of our dreams are pretty good!
There is one exception though, and that is the nightmare. Most people have at least a few nightmares in their lives. Some people sadly have a lot more.
If you ever had a nightmare, you know how terrifying it is. You wake up in sheer terror, trembling, with your heart beating fast.
If you are having a lot of nightmares, you may even dread going to bed at night, fearing the dream may come back. The good news is, nightmares are actually here to help us heal, and bring urgent attention to something we need to change in our lives, or perhaps there are unprocessed feelings that are blocking you up.
As a side note, if you happen to be in a situation you don’t know how to change, surrender, remember it is always possible to change our attitude, even in dark moments, and my personal favorite – surrender and ask for help.
Emotional blockages could develop into physical illnesses, so be thankful the nightmare is here to help you become aware of that it’s time to heal!
The healing path opens as soon as you acknowledge what’s going on. Dreams are here to help us build awareness.
Nightmares tend to come around when we have ignored an unhealthy situation in our lives too long, and pushed something away rather than working through it. That’s why it’s so good to always pay attention to our dreams, this way they don’t need to develop into nightmares!
If you have been through a traumatic event, nightmares are not uncommon. There are so many emotions to process and release. It may take a long time for the pain to fully go away, but it’s important to remember that a nightmare is never here to punish you with bad memories, or make it worse for you. The dream is helping you process blocked emotions, and acknowledge the pain. Once pain is accepted, it does no longer carry the same weight. The nightmare is your friend.
