Skalman and the Art of Living in Freedom

When I was a little girl, my dream was to be a turtle – but not any kind of turtle. I wanted to be “Skalman!”.

You may wonder who Skalman is… Skalman is a character from the Swedish cartoon, Bamse – an adorable tale about a warmhearted bear and his lovely friends, Lilla Skutt and Skalman. Bamse turns into the world’s strongest bear when he eats honey prepared by his kind grandmother.

What fascinated me so much about Skalman was not only how much he enjoyed reading, and how intelligent he was, but even more so – I was absolutely mesmerized by the alluring idea of having all my belongings packed up on my back, always ready to go somewhere, anywhere, be fine anywhere, and be able to live wherever my feet took me!

As someone who has lived in 5 countries, and traveled extensively around the world over the years, I must say it would have been pretty awesome to have everything in a shell on my back!

I think that’s why I love decluttering so much, always getting rid of things that no longer brings me joy, things that weigh me down. It’s a wonderful sensation to not be controlled by too much stuff.

It’s the art of living in freedom!

Goodnight & Sweet Dreams,
