Today me and my daughter have been celebrating the divine mother in me, with a wonderful Mother’s Day Celebration at Disneyland!
We’re doing the celebrations early this year, as my weekends are now filled with yoga from dawn to dusk. I have embarked on a powerful training course – I am devoting myself to yoga and spiritual studies, preparing to blossom into the best yoga teacher I can be!! It is such a divine journey, and I am so very grateful for the opportunity to share my love and passion for soul growth with even more people, and to continue learning and growing on my sacred journey.
Because of my dedicated yoga practice during the weekends, time may therefore be short for us to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, so we set some time away today to ensure we had enough time to really enjoy this special time together – and we sure did! We watched the beautiful parade – relaxing on Main Street, while enjoying yummy maple fudge, and happily sipping a fizzy drink. We even squeezed in some fun rides – heading on an under the sea adventure with Ariel! The evening was finished with a delicious dinner at Rainforest Cafe! It’s one of our favorite spots – it’s so tropical and exotic!
The highlight of the day though was Angelina’s precious gift. She had prepared a whole folder filled with love letters to me, sharing her fondest memories of her life, and writing so many letters about how much she loves our little family.
Something I have learned over the years is how families come in all shapes and sizes. I had a really hard time understanding this when Angelina was little, and I was a young single mother. I often felt embarrassed when people found out I was celebrating the day on my own with my little girl.
On this particular day I would feel left out, and filled with resentment. I am very grateful for that experience, because that helped me grow stronger spiritually, and the experience helped me develop compassion for myself – as well as other mothers around me.
Over time, I started seeing how celebration begins within me, and how truly blessed I was to be able to celebrate this incredible day.
So Angelina and I started making Mother’s Day into an amazing day – just her and me. We found joy in celebrating each other. I always make sure the day is celebrated in my honor, because it is important for my daughter to be able to share her love, but at the same time I always do something special also for her – because I am so grateful to be her mother!
Best of all, there is no more sulking in my life, sitting home feeling bitter because I was not celebrated! Those days are long gone, and I am eternally grateful for my awakening into something lighter and brighter!
If you are a mother who feels left out on this day, please rest assured it will get better! Some families are small, some huge – but the size is irrelevant. I know many mothers in large families who are very unhappy on Mother’s Day.
What matters is the happiness and love you share in your home, and people around you! If you know of another single mother, invite her along with you! This day is a wonderful opportunity to reach out and spread some love! It’s a day for celebrating love, life, motherhood and sisterhood!
Our family is a little one, it’s just me, Angelina and our dog Coco, but it really is the most loving family I know. I am so grateful to be a mother, and for our loving family.
Happy Mother’s Day all Divine Mothers!
